BTCCSquare news:

Weatherford International, the Houston-based oilfield services provider, has significantly increased its Russian operations despite escalating U.S. sanctions. The company derived 7% of its $2.4 billion H1 2025 revenue from Russia, up from 5% in the prior year period, while maintaining $332 million in Russian assets as of June 2025.

Unlike competitors Halliburton and Baker Hughes which exited Russia post-Ukraine invasion, Weatherford has expanded its workforce by 9% since 2022, now employing 2,382 personnel. The firm continues to advertise Russian job openings, having posted approximately 100 positions since February's sanctions package.

This expansion contrasts with Washington's efforts to restrict U.S. companies from supporting Russia's energy sector. Weatherford's SEC filings indicate ongoing monitoring of sanctions, even as operational metrics demonstrate continued commitment to the Russian market.
